File Date Changer 5 App Reviews
I installed a trial app by this developer which allows to copy the EXIF timestamp to the creation date (amongst other date change functions). Although quite pricey for such a simple task this batch function would have saved me a lot of time so I bought what looked to me like the full version (same logo, same description of functionality). However, this one has even fewer functions. All you can do is to set creation and modification times (which are both messed up in my case).
Good
I did what I wanted: Change the date of a file. Very easy to use. Perfect.
For some reason, when copying videos on to my NAS, the Date Created date gets set to the current date. This really screws me up in FCP X which can’t use the Date Modified for some reason. But with this software, I just set the Date Created to the Date Modified and I’m all set! I just modifed about 1000 video files in about 5 seconds - and it worked perfectly on a NAS! Thanks guys!
Ever since FCP X came out, Ive been recording audio seperately from video, I rely heavily on Date Creation data on all files to easily organize and synchronize audio and video files automatically. However, I didnt know that when my audio recorder batteries die, its internal clock resets and somehow resets creation date for all saved files. Luckily, it does save the "Modified date". But FCP X doesnt have the sort column for Dates modified, only Creation Date. This meant that I would need to find the matching audio file to the video file by listening and watching, as oppose to seeing audio files already next to video files and Im talking about over 200 video clips and 200 audio files. Im so glad I found this app! I was able to match creation date using the date modified, all in a single batch and and about 2 clicks , problems fixed!!! im no longer using a slate or "clapper" to sync audio / video, its essential to keep all clocks in all devices syncronized. In another instance, one of my devices was off by about 3 minutes, theres an option in this App to add 3 minutes in all files that were created in that device! again, as a batch and 2 clicks and input time adjustment, done. Thanks Frank Rieff for developing this!!!
I like applications that dont have a lot of extra baggage. I like to use something that does one thing exceptionally well, and thats what this does. You drag as many files as you want onto the window, select what you want it to do, click the button and its done. This was very useful to me when I found a huge batch of old files that somehow didnt have creation dates. I also use it for keeping files in correct chronological order. The convenience of this product is absolutely worth the price.
I sell small software products and even though I would alter them, the "modified date" would never change. When I would send out updates, Id get lots of inquiries as to why the date on the update was not more recent than the original. This prompted me to investigate how to make these changes. I stumbled onto this app and made a quick purchase. It could not be any easier to use. Now I won’t be sending out updates with confusing "modified dates" Thanks for a simple but effective app Brian
Does what it is supposed to do easily! If you are wanting to change and entire folder worth of contents besure to check off the option on the bottom "Subfolders and their contents" other than that, nice and simple!@
This is a great app! Very simple and powerful. It does exactly what I wanted to files, folders, and even those on external drives and thumb drives. Very fast and worth the investment!
Usually I write good reviews on such boards like this, but I had to inform the developer and other about the problems with the program. First when you add time, I tried to subtract 5 minutes of time and the program subtracted 7 minutes. The program also changed all my time to one time when I subtracted 27 days from a group of pictures. There is also no undo command, so when you make a change, that is it, there is no recourse. The current program needs some major revision. Otherwise the concept and options are great if they worked correctly.
Really like Better Rename 9, was hoping this could write date from photo EXIF information like Rename can when renaming files. After searching more, realized there was another app by the same developer that did what I wanted. Oh well, hard to find stuff on App Store, now I own both.
DOESNT WORK LIKE IT SAYS IT DOES, ASKED TO ADD ONE SINGLE YEAR, IT DECIDED TO CHANGE EVERYTHING TO TODAYS DATE! ARE YOU GOING TO PAY ME THE TROUBLE OF HAVING TO RE-CHANGE ALL MY FILES AGAIN MANUALLY, AND RETURN ME THE MONEY I SPENT ON YOUR NON-WORKING APP? HELL NO, OFCOURSE YOU ARENT. SHAME ON YOU FOR ASKING FOR MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT DOENST WORK, LOSERS. IF YOU BUY THIS, BE PREPARED TO LOSE MONEY AND GET NOTHING IN RETURN, JUST LIKE WITH MOST OF WHAT THIS DEVELOPER SELLS.
I havent used my Sony DSC-HX9V in over 2 years and found that there were still videos and pictures inside it--including a video of our dog that passed a way a year ago. I transfered the videos and pictures on my computer but realized that the date and time stamp did not get carried over; must be because of Sonys Picture Motion Browser. I needed a tool that will allow me to manually fix the date/time since this will be a part of my permanent archive. Luckily for me, the videos had the date in it as I like doing documentary style videos where I say the date in the beginning. This tool has been a life saver! It allowed me to change the date and time of files individually and even the directory itself! Its easy to use and figure out. And does exactly what it advertises. I love single-purpose easy to use tools/utilities like this one. Kudos to the developer! Great job! I almost didnt purchase this app due to the negative comments and would have missed out on a great app. I can see by reading the negative comments where the app falls short, but luckily they can be easily fixed by the developer. Here are some suggestions for improvements to the app that would eliminate user errors and let the application really shine: 1.) If only modifying a single file/directory, default the date/time controls to the date/time of the file/directory. 2.) If manipulating multiple files/directories, do not default the date/time to todays date. Blank it out and let the user pick it. 3.) If manipulating multiple files/directories, add a confirmation dialog box just before bulk processing. 4.) When the application launches, perhaps add a friendly reminder to always backup your source materials first as a best practice before manipulating them. In summary, this is an awesome app as it is now only if you pay close attention to what you are doing before hitting the "Perform Changes" button. This app does not hand-hold the user much and assumes the user knows "exactly" what they are doing which, in turn, the app does "exactly" what the user told it to do. Again great app, please keep updating it and making it better. Thank you Mr. Frank Reiff for taking the time and energy to make such a useful app.
I quickly bought this because I needed to change a bunch of video clips dates to make sorting easier in Final Cut Pro X. Luckily I didn’t read the reviews before I bought it. IT works fine!! Running Mavricks too.
Does exactly what is says very well
Works perfectly for both single files and batches. Does exactly what it says it does.
I was having trouble with the new iMovie 10 running Mavericks giving my video events incorrect creation dates. So I used this app to change the file creation dates of my video clips and it works perfect. Now my clips and events are right where they are supposed to be. Also very easy to use. Highly recommend.
I had a bunch of mp3 files to change the date on. Faced with the task of doing them one by one in garage band, I searched for a solution…was pointed here in some article…bought it…DONE. It does what it says - and quickly. Easily saved me an hour of time - and a boring one at that.
Yeah it changes the date of the pictures and videos in the finder, but when you drag them into the new photos app in yosemite the dates remain the same as they originally were. NO GOOD!
didn’t work for me attempting to change creation dates for a bunch of old home movies i converted from AVI to MP4. in finder, the dates do appear changed, but not after import into photos. bummer.
